Week #13 Recap – DaLoot with a season high (and a loss)

30 Jan 2009 | : Recap

After a “players only” meeting after Week #5 Fore! has been on a tear averaging 213.5 fppg.  DaLoot had a season high 213 in Week #13, but he played Fore!, who had the high score of the week with 242.5.  Helped by Kevin Durant’s 68!  Yes, 68 fantasy points.  That is the high for the any individual for the season.  David Lee previously had the high with 64.  Kevin Durant had 46 pts, 15 rbs, 4 ast, 2 st, 1 blk.  Amazing.  Congrats to Fore!  I’m not sure if any knows this, but DaLoot was pretty upset on draft day when the name Vincerod Carter came out of his mouth instead of Kevin Durant.  In Week #13, it made the difference.  Kevin Durant had 68, Vincerod had 36.

Captain Mo STB with 153.5, that is a Fur’ish score.

Four teams scored less than 170 points this week.

Week #12 Recap – Lawrence Frank Makes a Statement

30 Jan 2009 | : Recap

One thing we can say about Captain Mo is that he drafted well.  He hasn’t made a transaction and I’m not sure he has changed his lineup.  He did, however, get high total for the week in Week #12 with 236.0.  Congrats to Captain Mo.

It was nice to have Lawrence Frank make a statement to his two best players (Vincerod Carter and Devin Harris) on Friday night and bench them after the first quarter.  Harris and Carter both ended with nine fantasy points.  Roughly 25 less than their averages.

The kick in the teeth of the week goes to Royz Boyz who had two players with 50+ (Gerald Wallace and Dirk Nowitzki) and still lost to the Rokers.

I apologize for the late posting.  I got busy and simply never got around to writing anything.

Week #11 Recap – Yuck!

13 Jan 2009 | : Recap

Something I do not have statistics on, but I believe has never happened before.  There were 11 starters who all played and scored, but totaled < 20 fantasy points this week.  EVERY team in the league had at least one starter with < 20 fantasy points.  Nine additional starters had 25 or less fantasy points.  That means 20 of the 45 starters in fantasy basketball this week had 25 or less fantasy points.  I can’t ever remember that happening.  The Fur had four starters score 25 fantasy points or less.  That is really bad.  It is amazing The Fur totaled 159 fantasy points.  The beauty of this is that he played Fore! who had two starters with < 20 fantasy points.

Fantasy sports is evening things out.  After losing with 200+, Fore! was able to find a win with 184.  It helps when you play The Fur (159).  Congrats to Captain Mo for high score of the week (203.5).  That is 1.5 points more than 36DD had.  It helps to have Kobe Bryant go for 57 fantasy points.

Captain Mo has somehow worked the scheduling Gods into an 8-3 record, tied for the best record in the league.  This is despite averaging the third lowest points per week.  The point leader, Dirty Sanchez?  They are sitting one game back of first, in fourth place.

DaLoot did the unthinkable, the unimaginable, the inexcusable….DaLoot put Kevin Garnett on his bench for Week #11.  The rationale was that the Celtics are really limiting his minutes and when you don’t play, you can’t score.  DaLoot also did not play Shaq (late scratch from the starting lineup because he was questionable with back spasms).  KG ended up with 36 fantasy points, Shaq had 37 fantasy points.  Paul Milsap, also in the starting lineup for DaLoot, has been averaging 35 fantasy points over his last 15 games.  He got hurt and scored 20 fantasy points.  Worth mentioning DaLoot lost by 15.5.

The kick in the teeth of the week goes to Dirty Sanchez.  Devin Harris had a DNP (bum hamstring) on the bench for the Dirty Sanchez.  David Copperfield won by only 11.  Devin Harris is averaging 34.62 fantasy points for the season.   Dirty Sanchez outrebounded David Copperfield 40.5 – 30.

Week #10 – Recap

08 Jan 2009 | : Recap

We reached the half way point of the 2008-2009 Fantasy Basketball schedule.  Four teams are tied for first at 7-3.

Fore! continues his hot streak scoring 200+ (223.5) for the 5th straight week.  That squad is solid when healthy.  Royz Boyz (3-7) has the fourth most points this season (just behind the Average), but sits in 8th place.  Fore! (4-6) is just ahead of him in the standings and three points behind him in total points.

There will be no gripe by DaLoot this week.  As I look at the standings I notice that I have the second fewest points in the league, but I sit tied for 5th at 5-5.

There was an NBA first on Friday night.  All 30 NBA teams played on Friday, January 2nd, 2009.  That has never happened in the history of the NBA.  That is partly because there were an odd number of teams in the league for a long time.

There was a first Saturday night as Royz Boyz became a father for the first time.  Congrats to Ol’ Brad!

Rokers drew the Old Maid card by scoring 200.5 and losing to Dirty Sanchez, who had the high week for the third time this season (227.5).

There were some interesting scoring nights on Friday evening.  Dwayne Wade had 47 fantasy points with two minutes left in the third quarter.  He finished with 49 fantasy points.  Mrs. Carmela Anthony had nine first half fantasy points.  He finished with 44.  Shaq had three fantasy points in the first half, but finished with 30.

The Fur had a chip and a chair in Week #10 vs. 36DD.  It was a close game, but OJ Mayo “shat the bed” and only delivered 16 fantasy points (Josh Howard didn’t help with only 20).  The Fur lost by nine.

Captain Mo won again still not realizing Corey Maggette has been out for the past month or so.  He’s back now, but logged a “dead man.”   The victim this week was David Copperfield who was the recipient of an unannounced “bruised tailbone / trade me” injury.

Danny Granger’s consistent year continues…last six fantasy games?  45, 11, 55, 0, 39, 35….He put two decent weeks together finally.  Nice.

All transactions, standings, rosters, etc. are current.
